Pace of Play Guidelines
A good pace helps your game, is more fun, pleases other players, and keeps the golf course staff happy.
- LOOK FORWARD, NOT BACK. Pace of play is determined by what is ahead.
- Staying with the group ahead is your task. Staying with your group is the task of those following you.
- DRIVE THE CART AS A TEAM. The cart should never be driven from ball to ball with both players in it. Get out and walk. Drop your partner at her ball (with a couple of extra clubs) then drive to your shot. She can walk forward to you when she completes her shot.
- DO NOT WASTE TIME PUTTING CLUBS IN AND OUT OF YOUR BAG. Example- after you drive, carry your driver to the first cart-stop and put it away and take out the clubs you will use next.
- DO NOT WAIT UNTIL IT IS YOUR TURN TO BEGIN STUDYING YOUR PUTT OR SHOT.
- LEAVE THE GREEN IMMEDIATELY and drive to the next tee. Score while others are teeing off.
- KNOW WHEN YOU HAVE THE HONOR AND BE READY.
SLOW PLAY. You know you are out of position if:
- On a par 3 - you are on the tee and the group ahead is hitting their 2nd shot on the following hole.
- On a Par 4 - you are on the tee and the group ahead is walking off the green.
- On a Par 5 - you are on the tee and the group ahead is on the green.
